Auckland Light Rail Group Kids Art Competition Terms and Conditions

  1. By entering the competition, you agree to these terms.

  2. The competition is run by Auckland Light Rail Group, which is a joint endeavour made up of Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, Auckland Transport, Auckland Council, the Ministry of Transport and Kāinga Ora. In these terms each reference to Auckland Light Rail Group also includes any other agency that might in future take over responsibility for the Auckland Light Rail project.

  3. All prizes for the competition are provided by Auckland Light Rail Group. Any promises made to you under these terms are made by Auckland Light Rail Group. Your acceptance of these terms is for the benefit of all members of Auckland Light Rail Group.

  4. The competition is open to Primary and Intermediate schools and their students in the Auckland area.

  5. If you are a student, to enter the competition you must have a parent or guardian accept the terms and conditions on your behalf.

  6. To enter the competition, you must upload your piece of artwork using the template on the Auckland Light Rail website (either scan or photograph) individually, or as a class by a teacher or principal. Each entry must be your own original work. All mandatory details on the entry form must be fully completed.

  7. The time for entries runs from midnight at the start of Thursday 1 July 2021 to midnight at the end of Tuesday 31 August 2021. Only valid entries received during this time will be accepted.

  8. An entry form must be completed for each entry. Schools and individuals can submit as many different entries as they like. Schools can upload multiple entries as a single upload per class.

  9. Auckland Light Rail Group can check the validity of entries and entrant eligibility at any time, and can disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that does not comply with these terms or who engages in any dishonest, deceptive or malicious behaviour in relation to the competition.

  10. Employees and family members of Auckland Light Rail Group are not eligible to enter the competition.

  11. By entering, you give permission for the Auckland Light Rail Group to reproduce, publish and share your artwork in any media, either on its own or incorporated into other publications. You also authorise Auckland Light Rail Group to give others the same permissions. Auckland Light Rail will only use these permissions for the purpose of promoting the Auckland Light Rail project. These permissions are not limited to any particular time period, and cannot be cancelled or withdrawn.

  12. Judging will take place between Wednesday 1 September and Friday 10 September 2021 by a judging panel selected by the promoter. Winners will be notified by Monday 13 September.

  13. The judging panel will select the three winning entries based on artistic merit. The selection of the winners is solely at the discretion of the judges and their decision is final. The winners will be contacted via phone or email, using the details provided in the entry form. If a winner does not respond to Auckland Light Rail Group’s attempts to contact them within 5 working days, Auckland Light Rail Group may select a replacement winner. The judging panel may select more than one winning entry by an individual entrant.

  14. Auckland Light Rail Group may publish the first name of the winning entrants and the name of the school that the winning entrants attend. If Auckland Light Rail Group takes any photos or video of the winning entrants or entries, Auckland Light Rail Group may use the photos or video for publicity purposes.

  15. Each winning entry will have the artwork printed and displayed on an Auckland Transport bus for a select period of time in 2021 or 2022. The exact timing and duration of the display will be determined by Auckland Light Rail Group.

  16. For each winning entry, the schools that the entrants attend will win transport costs for a school trip/s up to the value of $1000, to be redeemed in one transaction by 1 July 2022.

  17. If any advertised prize (or part of the prize) is unavailable, Auckland Light Rail Group can substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize of equal or greater value. The prize is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.

  18. The prizes are subject to terms of use of the companies supplying the prizes. For example, if the prize includes travel, then in order to accept the prize the winner would need to agree to the travel provider’s usual terms and conditions.

  19. Any expenses (including but not limited to travel, accommodation, food and beverage) incurred in relation to accepting or using the prize are the responsibility of the winner.

  20. Where the competition is made available on a social media platform e.g. Instagram or Facebook, the competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with the social media platform. The entrant provides their information to Auckland Light Rail Group and not to the social media platform provider. The entrant completely releases the relevant social media platform provider from any liability in relation to the competition.

  21. To the extent permitted by law, Auckland Light Rail Group and its associated agencies are not liable in any way (including, without limitation, in negligence) for any loss, damage or injury (including indirect and consequential loss) suffered or sustained in connection with participation in this competition or the use of any prize.
  22. Auckland Light Rail Group can cancel or modify the competition or any part of it if fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Auckland Light Rail Group’s reasonable control adversely affects its ability to conduct the competition. Any cancellation or modification to the competition will be notified on Auckland Light Rail Group’s website.

  23. To the extent permitted by law, Auckland Light Rail Group takes no responsibility for lost, damaged, misdirected, late, illegible or incomplete registrations or entries, incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures, failures of computer equipment or software, inability to access telecommunications network services, corruption of any format holding an entry, failure of the winner to collect the prize or any other error or malfunction.

  24. Entry submissions are collected by Auckland Light Rail Group. Auckland Light Rail Group receives and holds personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. All personal information provided by entrants will be held by Auckland Light Rail Group and will be used to run the competition in accordance with these terms. Under the Privacy Act 2020 entrants have the right to access and correct their personal information. Entrants can contact privacy@nzta.govt.nz to request access to or correction of their personal information.
